OUR COACHING METHODOLOGY

Cool Leadership coaching is based on deep and honest conversations.

These conversations are always totally confidential to you. We talk together for three flexible hours each month over a period of six months.

The successful outcomes of these conversations are visible changes in your behaviour in the organisation.

We work with a number of models and approaches that we have developed over the years to explore different aspects of personality, purpose and values, self-beliefs, attitudes and personal power as well as skill sets and confidence levels. Our methodology allows us to draw on these resources as appropriate and to share the emergent insights with you as we go.

We also reach out into your working environment for feedback. We co-create a questionnaire on the topics you want feedback on from the people who matter most to you. You discover new information on the impact you have on the people you work with so you can enjoy the good news and we can work on any emergent challenges you may face.

In this way we create a ‘rich picture’ of you, your working environment and the journey to be taken.

Our Coaches

Cool Leadership only selects high-calibre coaches with extensive experience of working with managers and professionals.

Cool Leadership coaches are highly qualified and bring a range of specialist skills and industry expertise. All have a strong belief in the potential of people to develop beyond their current levels of performance. Our coaches hold a ‘safe space’ for the personal challengeand exploration that they encourage and support. This includes self-awareness, shifting mindsets, changing behaviours, facing difficulties and initiating change.

All coaches report in to, and are supervised by, our Head of Coaching who ensures that overall client expectations are on-track and that the coaches have a sounding board for their own progress with clients and their situation.

We give you a choice of coaches so that you can make the final decision who to work with.We can supply a team of coaches to ensure there is no conflict of interest within an organisational environment.

Board Members & Senior Executives

Ideal for C-suite executives and Heads of functions who are facing complex organisational challenges, implementing transformational change or are transitioning into a new role.

Life at the top is never easy. The current global political and economic environment bring additional pressures to bear and these can lead to tensions amongst decision-makers and other stakeholders. Regular conversations with a trusted and experienced external confidante provide you with time for reflection and reappraisal as well as an opportunity to anticipate next steps and emergent challenges. They are a welcome oasis of calm and consideration.

This 6-month coaching programme comprises three hours every month which you can split into appropriate sessions to flexibly fit your preferences and your diary. Sessions can be face to-face or on-line. You will also have a personal WhatsApp connection with your coach for ‘urgent access’ between sessions. The precise content of the sessions will vary depending on your needs but we generally include a psychometric test and a personally-tailored 360 confidential feedback questionnaire completed by hand-picked colleagues to measure your current impact in the areas of importance to you.

In addition to the rigours of everyday activity, you will no doubt have longer term ambitions for the business whilst you hold your current position and your coach will help you to keep these alive and active. The opportunities for even small legacies are not to be ignored and often there are internal policies or cultural changes that you can leave your mark on.

Creating a great place to work, ensuring environmentally-sound policies and always keeping one foot in the future are all hall-marks of ‘a cool leader’. Your Cool Leadership coach will support you in keeping all the balls in the air and being the leader you want to be.

Cool Coaching for Women

This is an amazing six month journey, addressing the challenges that are facing you personally every day alongside those that are encountered by most women who are seeking, or holding, leadership positions at this time in history.

Once a week, for a full hour, you will have a one-to-one confidential call with the Coach you have chosen at a time convenient to you both. Together, you’ll explore the most important issues facing you right now. Most coaching ends there but this coaching is different – it includes time dedicated to substantiate and nourish your whole sense of self and to discover how you can best step into and enhance your leadership capacity. We do this by combining personal development with organisational savvy and heightened communication skills. The result is a stronger version of you, more resilient, with an understanding of organisational politics and access to your own deep reservoirs of power. Leadership relies on relationship building and that requires great people skills – so we’ll work on those too. Influencing upwards is just as important as managing downwards and excelling with your professional expertise.
The Dalai Lama said that “the world will be saved by the western woman” and we want to help in every way that we can to see it happen. At Cool Leadership we are not old school feminists but we fiercely believe in equality and justice and that means a fair share of the action (and the rewards!) We also believe that women bring something very special to the workplace and we’d like to help you to release that for yourself and your organisation. High Potential Managers

Ideal for ambitious, high potential managers who are preparing for their next role or are new to their current role.

This is your chance to take charge of your future and become a cool leader. One who gets results and inspires people: they just love to work with you.

Working together with a Cool Leadership coach, you move towards the career you most want and a life you love. We can’t promise to deliver the final outcome – that’s down to you – but we can fast-forward the journey that you’re on. You choose the agenda, we meet with you on-line or face-to-face every fortnight for the next six months for an hour and a half each time and together we keep close track of everything going on for you and the various ways of handling it, so that you can try things out and review what works well for you and where you need to push the boundaries. We also explore your natural strengths, what motivates you and why, and rectify ways in which you might self-sabotage, so that you can be free to be your best and bring out the best in others.

Dynamic Coaching for Shared Issues

This is such fun! It doesn’t matter where you are, you can call in to a group session with your shared coach and help one another as well as focus on your own concerns.

We find that having a shared interest makes this group approach most valuable. It might be managing people or going for a big promotion or negotiating with external stakeholders. We provide an expert coach and you bring the live cases and the learning from immediate experience.

An ideal group size is 6-8 so we cap attendance to a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10. All sessions are recorded and made available to group members as not everyone can always attend every session. We meet once a month for six months.

You might like to join a group as an individual member or your organisation might like to sponsor a group of internals to work on an organisational issue like: increasing collaboration across functional boundaries; improving the group dynamics in virtual teams; introducing culture change; or the integration programme following a merger or acquisition. There are so many ways in which this coaching model works as it is a real-time learning laboratory with the benefits of individual coaching as you go through the problems arising. It has the added bonus of giving you more experience of working with others remotely: a skill set for success in the future.

Supervision for in-house Coaches

External supervision supports the learning and on-going professional development of your internal Coaches through reflective practice.

External supervision supports the learning and on-going professional development of your internal Coaches through reflective practice. The Association for Coaching recommends a ratio of 1:15 supervision to coaching hours. We offer your organisation a combination of one-to-one and peer group supervision, so that Coaches can have confidential individual supervision and also engage in a supervised but mutually supportive group of other coaches.

Coaches are encouraged to keep a log of their hours in supervision and to journal their reflections and learning.
